DEMOREST, Ga. – The Greensboro College softball dropped their first two games of the season at the Piedmont College Classic Saturday.
The Pride fell to the host Lions to start the day, 12-4, before falling to Emory & Henry College, 3-2.
"For our season opener we were able to make adjustments game to game," Head Coach
Teresa Fister said. "While we competed throughout each game, we are committed to growing as a team over the course of the season."

Brittainy Rush led off the game with a double before advancing to third base on a
Melissa Garcia ground out. Following the Garcia groundout, senior Maddison Crisco recorded a RBI bunt single to give Greensboro a one-run lead.
Piedmont then scored the game's next four runs before Greensboro was able to push another run across in the fourth inning.
Mandi Ballard led off the inning with a double to left field before advancing over to third base on a
Cassie Collins sacrifice bunt.
Taylor Little then plated Ballard with her first hit of the day.
The Lions then struck for four runs over the next two innings to extend their advantage to 8-2.
However, Greensboro was able to plate two more runs in the sixth inning before Piedmont ended the game with four runs of their own.
Rush finished with a team-high three hits, while
Hayley Rumley,
Kaylee Johnson, Garcia, Crisco, Ballard, Collins, and Little had one hit each. Maddy Weatherholt was credited with the loss, while
Brittany Nozet and Collins also saw time in the pitching circle.

The Wasps scored the game's first three runs before Greensboro got on the board with two runs in the sixth inning.
Crisco singled with one out in the inning before coming all the way around to score the Pride's first run of the game after Rumley hit a triple down the left field line. Rumley then scored the game's final run after Ballard grounded out to the first basemen.
Rumley finished with a team-high three hits, while Crisco and Johnson added two hits each.
Kali Puckett also had one hit.
Hayley Tickle took the loss after pitching a complete game, while recording two strikeouts.
The Pride softball team will wrap up the Piedmont Classic Sunday with two games. Greensboro will take on Millsaps College at 11 a.m. before squaring off with Emory & Henry for the second time at 3:30 p.m. For more information on Greensboro College softball, continue to follow
