LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to LaGrange College in USA South Athletic Conference action, 91-72.
LaGrange opened the game on a 4-0 run before Greensboro went on a 10-3 run of their own to take a three-point lead.
Lorenzo Marry started the run with a one-handed dunk before
Joseph Gatling connected for three-point range for the first time. Marry then added another bucket before
Darus Maddox hit a three-pointer of his own to cap up the run.
Greensboro then went on to establish their largest lead of the game at 20-14 following a basket by Gatling.
However, the Panthers came storming back to tie the game before taking a 39-30 lead following a 17-4 run that lasted six minutes.
After Maddox hit a pair of free throws to pull the Pride to within seven, LaGrange closed out the half on a 6-0 run to take a 47-32 lead into halftime.
Greensboro's offensive struggles continued for the first 14 minutes of the second half as LaGrange extended their advantage to 27 points.
However, Greensboro closed the game on a 15-7 run but it was not enough to overcome the Panthers. Maddox had five points during the closing run, while Marry,
Javen Garrison,
Dominic Fumbanks, and
Christopher Corbin combined for 10 points.
"We struggled today," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "It was not a very good performance at all for our guys.
"Unfortunately, we are not playing very good basketball right now."
Maddox finished with a team-high 16 points, while Marry contributed 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Gatling and Fumbanks had 11 points each.
