Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls To USA South Foe Methodist University

Fayetteville, N.C.—The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to the Monarchs of Methodist University Wednesday, 99-79.

The Pride started off on an 8-4 run before the Monarchs shot out ahead on an 18-3 run, making it a 22-11 game with 9:53 left to play in the first half.

Over the last four minutes of the half, Greensboro fought hard to cut the deficit. Senior Joseph Gatling drained three three-pointers to pull the Pride within eight points of the Monarchs before bringing the score to 44-36 at the end of the half.

At the start of the second half, Methodist sparked a 20-8 run and Greensboro's offense was unable to make up the difference.

"I think that what has held us down all year is completion offensively and defensively and that's what got us tonight," Head Coach Bryan Galuski said. "We were out of sync offensively a little bit tonight and had a few rushed shots, but we also capitalized off of good opportunities.

"The make-up of our team has to change in regards to having a defensive and rebounding frame of mind. It's something that we are going to continue to work hard at."

Gatling finished with 21 points, while both Darus Maddox and Cornelius Johnson finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The men's basketball team will return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. when they host St. Mary's College of Maryland. For more information on Greensboro college men's basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
