GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's soccer team fell in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament to N.C. Wesleyan College Wednesday, 2-1.
The Pride got on the board first in the 16
th minute when
Anna Rae Porcelli blasted a free kick into the upper left hand corner of the goal from 30-yards out.
The score remained the same until the 58
th minute when the Bishops tied the contest at one, before scoring the eventual game-winner in the 85
th minute.
"It was a disappointing loss today," Head Coach
Gus Mota said. "We gave away two bad goals due to the lack of experience. We hit pockets of immaturity today due to our youth on the field and that is something we are going to have to learn from this spring moving forward into next season.
"I am proud of my team as we had a heck of a regular season but the season did not end the way we had hoped. There were a lot of memorable moments this year that they can be proud of and I want to thank all of our fans and parents for their support all season."
Kelsey Emrich made four saves in the loss.
With the loss, the Pride concludes their 2017 season with an overall record of 16-3-0, while also setting the record for most wins in a season.
