FERRUM, Va. – The No.4-seeded Greensboro College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 1- seeded Ferrum College in the first-round of the SEILC Tournament Saturday, 16-8, to end its 2016 season.
Denis Radcliffe gave Greensboro (6-10) a early one-goal lead before the Panthers (6-10) used a 10-0 run to take a nine-goal lead.
Charles Stringfellow,
Jervon Speller, and
Gianni Gonzalez each scored unassisted goals to pull Greensboro to within six goals.
Following the three goal run for the Pride, Ferrum struck two more time before Stringfellow scored his second goal of the afternoon, while
Daniel Wolf scored his first goal to bring Greensboro to within 12-6.
However, the Pride could not get any closer as Ferrum scored four of the last six goals to secure the eight-goal victory. Stringfellow had Greensboro's final two goals.
"The guys battled all season, but we came up short today," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "I want to thank all of the seniors for their hard work this season."
Stringfellow finished with a team-high four goals, while Radcliffe, Speller, Wolf, and Gonzalez each had one goal.
Detione Jones took the loss in goal, while picking a up a team-high five groundballs.
