GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's lacrosse team defeated the Lions of Piedmont College Saturday on Senior Day, 17-5.
Charles Stringfellow assisted goals by
Tamarie Sterling and
Gianni Gonzalez to put the Pride on top 2-0 before the Lions cut the advantage in half with their first goal of the game.
Greensboro then outscored Piedmont 7-1 over the remainder of the half to take a 9-2 halftime lead.
Denis Radcliffe, Stringfellow, and
Daniel Wolf each accounted for two of the goals, while
Jonathan Avedesian scored one goal.
Piedmont scored the first goal of the second half, but the Pride ran off seven goals over the next 18 minutes to push their advantage to 16-3. Avedesian scored four goals during the run, while Radcliffe added two goals.
Following the Greensboro run, the Lions scored two more times before Patrick Leonard scored the game's final goal to secure the victory.
"I am really proud of the way the guys played today as we sent the seniors out with a great win," Head Coach
Mike Foderaro said. "I am looking forward to extending the season and working on improving our play going into the conference tournament."
Avedesian finished with a team-high five goals, while Radcliffe added four goals. Stringfellow, who had two goals, passed for a team-high five assists.
Detione Jones picked up the win.
