GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team remained undefeated Tuesday as they beat the Pacers of Marywood University, 13-12.
The Pacers (0-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Pride (4-0) ran off eight straight goals.
Kirstin Norris scored all four of her goals during the run, while Ashylnn Parks,
Natalie Ritchey, and
Alexa Besch combined for the other four.
Marywood then pulled to within 9-5 at halftime.
The Pacers pulled within 12-11 late in the second half, but Besch scored the game winner for Greensboro with 6:03 left in the second period.
"We fought hard today," Head Coach
Christie Hebert said. "Starting out 4-0 is good, but this is going to be our year to set high goals and achieve them."
Norris's four goals led the team, while Ritchey and Besch had three goals each. Norris and Besch had a team-high three assists, while
Laine Walston,
Amira Khatib, and Ritchey each had one.
Kaleigh Hemstock picked up the win after making five saves.
Megan Cenate, who played 20 minutes in goal, also recorded five saves.
