GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kirstin Norris and
Amira Khatib each tallied four goals as the Pride women's lacrosse team opened its 2016 season Thursday with a 21-0 victory over Hollins University.
Alexa Besch scored the first goal just 26 seconds in before
Natalie Ritchey tallied two goals.
Ashlynn Parks and Khatib pushed the Greensboro (1-0) lead to 5-0.
Over the final 20 minutes of the first half, Norris found the back of the net three times, while
Laine Walston,
Katherine Holmes, Stephania Robba, Ritchey, Parks, and Kahtib combined for seven goals, giving the Pride a 15-0 halftime lead.
In the second half,
Mackenzie Flemmons,
Devan Macheras, and
Kelsey Cenate each scored as the Pride went on for the victory.
The Pride outshot Hollins (0-2) 35-0, while controlling 18 of 21 draw controls.
Kaleigh Hemstock and
Megan Cenate each recorded 30 minutes in goal.
