Women's Lacrosse Scorches Methodist In USA South Play

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team picked up its third USA South victory of the season Wednesday as the Pride defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University, 14-4.

The Monarchs (6-5, 3-2 USA South) scored first before Kirstin Norris tied the game at one with her 50th goal of the season.

Methodist then jumped back out in front of the Pride (8-3, 3-1 USA South) two minutes later before Greensboro ran off seven unanswered goals to take a 8-2 lead. Christina SanGiacomo, Alexa Besch, Ashlynn Parks, and Norris each had one goal, while Natalie Ritchey struck for two goals.

The Monarchs scored one final time in the half, while Greensboro tacked on two more goals to take a 9-3 halftime lead.

Greensboro outscored the Monarchs 5-1 in the second half to secure the ten-goal victory.

"I am extremely proud of the way our girls played today in a crucial conference matchup," Head Coach Christie Hebert said. "Our offense picked up the pace after starting out slow, while our defense stepped up big against a well-coached Methodist team."

Norris finished with a team-high four goals, while Ritchey added three goals. SanGiacomo, Besch, and Parks each had two goals, while Amiria Khatib had one goal. Kaleigh Hemstock recorded the victory in goal after making five saves.

The Pride women will return home at 12 p.m. Saturday when they host cross-town rival Guilford College. For more information on Greensboro College women's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
