Women's Lacrosse Thrashes Reds

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team defeated the Reds of Carthage College Tuesday, 14-5.

The Pride (7-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Reds (2-2) got on the board. Natalie Ritchey, Alexa Besch, and Ashlynn Parks scored for Greensboro.

Following the Reds goal, the Pride outscored its opposition 3-1 over the final 17 minutes of the half to take a 6-2 halftime lead. Kristin Norris recorded her first two goals during the run, while Besch also tallied her second goal.

Parks and Ritchey then extended the Greensboro lead to 8-2 before the Reds answered with two goals of their own.

However, Greensboro ran off five straight goals en route to the final nine-goal margin.

"We had a very balanced offensive attack today," Head Coach Christie Hebert said. "Our girls did a good job of executing our game plan, but we must quickly move on as we return to conference play tomorrow."

Norris finished with a team-high five goals, while Parks recorded four goals. Ritchey and Besch each had two goals. Kaleigh Hemstock took the win in goal.

The Pride women will return to action at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when they travel to Methodist University. For more information on Greensboro College women's lacrosse, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com
