GREENSBORO, N.C. – Adam Murray went 4-of-5 at the plate, but the Greensboro College baseball team fell in 10 innings to Guilford College Wednesday, 7-6.
Guilford (8-4) took a 1-0 lead until
Brandon Soden tied the game in the fifth inning with a single to score Griffin Riley.
The Pride (4-11) tallied four runs in the eighth inning to take a 5-1 lead.
Braedon Jewett plated J.P Lisk with a sacrifice fly before
Zach Neumeister came in to score on a Quakers error. Later in the inning,
Kristopher Taveras scored Murray with a single before coming around to score.
Guilford pulled to within one run on their next trip to the plate, but Jewett extended the Pride margin back to two runs with a two-out RBI single.
Guilford tied the game in the ninth inning before getting a walk-off RBI single in the 10
th inning.
Soden had two hits on the afternoon, while Neumeister, Jewett, Taveras, and Griffin Riley each recorded one hit.
Josh Evans tossed the first 3 2/3 innings before giving way to the Pride bullpen.
Will McGuire pitched the 10
th inning and was credited with the loss.
