ASHLAND, Va. – The Greensboro College women's basketball team fell to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon in its final game of the Randolph-Macon Tip-off Classic Saturday, 93-55.
The Pride (0-3) took a narrow 4-3 lead early in the first period before the Yellow Jackets (3-0) out scored Greensboro 20-11 over the next five minutes to take a 23-15 lead into the second period.
Katie Lewis, who scored a team-high 15 points in the game, had seven of the Pride's 11 points, while Keyona Lewis and
Heather Burton each had two points.
Randolph then extended its margin to 13 points before Greensboro pulled to within 39-36 at the half, following a 15-7 run over the final five minutes of the period.
Monica Smalls got the run started for the Pride with a pair of free throws before
Courtney Pearsall,
Leea Parker,
Rasheika Gregory, and Lewis combined for the final 13 points of the spurt.
Following intermission, the Yellow Jackets took control of the game en route to the victory.
Kamerin Williams and Gregory finished with seven points each, while Kaylee Barry and Pearsall each had five points. Pearsall finished with a team-high 13 rebounds, while Smalls had 11 rebounds.
Following the conclusion of the game,
Katie Lewis was named to the all-tournament team.
