BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team rebound from its New Year's Day loss with a 74-69 defeat of Bridgewater College Sunday.
The Pride (6-5) found themselves trialing 20-6 just six minutes into the contest but used a 7-0 run to pull within 20-13.
Torrence Outing recorded five points during the run, while
Trevin Miller tallied one bucket.
However, the Eagles (2-8) reestablished a double digit margin before the Pride used a 17-4 to tie the game at 34 with two minutes showing on the first half clock.
Parris Scales, who had a team-high 16 points, recorded seven points during the run.
Lorenzo Marry,
Simeon Howard,
Christopher Corbin, Outing, and Miller also scored during the span.
Greensboro was then able to establish a 36-34 lead heading into intermission follow a pair of Corbin free-throws.
After trading baskets in the early part of the second period, Greensboro was able to establish a 66-59 lead following another big run.
Down the stretch, the Pride went 3-of-5 from the charity stripe to secure the win.
"We found a way to win a tough road game today," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "I am proud of the way that we bounced back from the defeat on Friday.
"Starting Wednesday, we begin a new season and have to be ready to refocus and prepare for William Peace University. As a team, we showed a lot of growth throughout non-conference play, but we must continue to focus on the bigger picture and take each conference game one at a time."
Donavan Griffith (14) and Outing (13) joined Scales in double figures. Griffith Pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while Scales and Howard each pulled down five boards.
