GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team fell to the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan Wednesday, 86-74.
After trading baskets during the first three minutes, Greensboro (9-7, 3-2 USA South) opened an 11-6 lead following a 6-0 run.
Lorenzo Marry,
Joseph Gatling, and
Parris Scales each recorded two points during the span.
Greensboro then established its largest lead before the Bishops (10-6, 3-2 USA South) pulled to within 20-19 following a 7-0 run of their own.
From that point, NC Wesleyan outscored the Pride 21-11 over the half's final eight minutes, leading 40-31 at halftime.
The Pride then pulled to within 48-46, just four minutes into the new period but could not get any closer, falling by the 12-point margin.
"We got beat tonight and it was disappointing," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "We didn't come to finish a college basketball game tonight, and I felt that Wesleyan was just better tonight."
Parris Scales paced the Pride with 17 points, while Gatling (15),
Torrence Outing (11), and
Zedric Barnett (10) also tallied double figures.
Simeon Howard, who finished with nine points, led Greensboro College with seven rebounds.
