GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College men's team played Sewanee on Sunday morning at Appenzeller Field on the campus of Guilford College. After a scoreless first half of play, Greensboro was able to strike for a 1-0 victory.
The lone goal of the game came in the 85th minute of play.
Craig Gage, who hit the cross bar earlier in the second half, took a feed from
Robbie Barnes and was able to beat the Tigers keeper to the lower right corner of the goal.
The Pride held a decisive 17-4 advantage in the shot category.
Carlos Barragan led the way for the Pride with six shots while
Craig Gage added five.
"Congratulations to the guys on getting their first win of the season today", Head Coach
Tony Falvino stated following the game. "We were able to bounce back after a disappointing showing earlier this week. Now we look forward to progressing as the season goes on and getting ready for the Roanoke Tournament next weekend."
Jamie Payamps (1-1) picked up the win in goal while Will Merriman took the loss for Sewanee.
The Pride men's soccer team will return to action next weekend when they travel to the All Sports Café Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
