GREENBORO, NC – The Greensboro College volleyball team traveled just down Friendly Avenue on Tuesday night to take on the Quakers of Guilford College in a cross town showdown. Greensboro won the opening set of the match, but fell by a 3-2 mark.
The Pride won the first set of the match 25-21 and the third set 27-25. However, Greensboro dropped the second, fourth, and fifth sets by scores of 25-15, 27-25, and 15-9.
Meredith Summers and
Shayla Moss combined for 30 kills in the match while
Darrian Bolt anchored the assist category with 26.
Tori Belcher recorded a team high 28 digs.
Evan Sherer,
Shayla Moss,
Brandy Johnson, and
Megan Baranko each recorded at least one assisted block.
When asked about the match, senior
Megan Baranko stated, "Although it was a tough loss, I couldn't be more proud of the effort and heart my team showed tonight. We fought so hard, and there was not a moment where I doubted the fact that we wanted to win. We showed amazing improvements all around, and I know that we will continue to play at this level for the second half of our season. We will make ourselves known, and we will not settle for anything less than how we played tonight."

Meredith Smith. "We continue to play with great heart, pride, confidence, and determination. We hope to bring those same qualities into play for the rest of the week and weekend."
