FERRUM, VA – The Greensboro College Pride women's lacrosse team (8-4, 4-2 USAS) traveled on the road on Friday afternoon to take on conference foe Ferrum College. Greensboro jumped on top early and was able to hold on for an 11-6 win.
Natalie Ritchey gave Greensboro an early 1-0 before Nadya Fedun and Kirstin Norris beat the Panthers keeper two time each extending the Greensboro margin to 5-0 with 10:31 showing on the first half clock.
Greensboro was then able to keep the shutout intact until Ferrum got in the scoring column with nine second to play in the period. With the last second goal by the Panthers, Greensboro was able to go into the intermission period up 5-1.
Over the course of the first three minutes of the new segment, Ferrum was able to tally three unanswered goals to pull within one goal at 5-4. However, Amira Khatib scored two straight goals to push the lead to 7-4. Following the two goals by Khatib, Ashlynn Parks added to the advantage with her lone goal of the game making the score 8-4.
Down the final stretch, Greensboro got goals by Ritchey, Fedun, and Parks to help preserve the 11-6 victory.
Nadya Fedun led the way with three goals in the contest. Kirstin Norris, Natalie Ritchey, and Ashylnn Parks each added two more goals apiece.
Kaleigh Hemstock picked up the win in the net for Greensboro. Hemstock was able to collect nine saves in sixty minutes of play.
