GREENSBORO, NC – Junior Kirstin Norris netted a game high six goals on Tuesday afternoon, but it was not enough as the Pride (7-4, 3-2 USAS) fell to visiting Meredith College (9-5, 4-1 USAS) 20-18.
Alexa Besch put Greensboro on top, 1-0, just fifty seconds into the game but Meredith was able to respond right back with a goal of their own tying the game at 1-1.
Once the Angels knotted the score, Ashlyn Parks and Norris tallied one goal each giving Greensboro the lead at 3-1.
Later in the half after Meredith was able to take at 8-6 lead before Greensboro outscored the Angels over the last five and a half minutes, 4-1, to take a 10-9 lead into the break. Besch and Norris each tallied a goal to pull Greensboro even with the Angels before Nadya Fedun and Amira Khatib connected on two man down goals to give the Pride the narrow advantage.
Coming out of the intermission period Meredith scored the half's first five goals to move atop Greensboro 14-10.
The Pride then trailed by as many as five goals before Greensboro scored three goals over the final 4:21 to pull within two goals at 20-18. Norris found the back of the net for her final goal of the game with 4:21 showing on the second half clock before Ashlynn Parks tallied the final two goals of the game.
Norris led the way with six goals while Parks contributed four goals. Kaleigh Hemstock took the loss in goal for Greensboro despite making 12 saves.
