LaGRANGE, GA – The Pride softball team (11-17, 4-8 USAS) returned to the softball diamond for the second consecutive day. The Pride traveled to take on the Panthers of LaGrange College in a USA South Athletic Conference double header. Greensboro fell in the in the first game, 3-0, before dropping game two 7-2.
The Panthers got single runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings of play to come away with the 3-0 victory.
Sarah Connolly, Allyson Yeager, Jackie Nicholson, Hayley Rumley, and Madison Crisco combined for the Pride's only hits in the game.
Dawn Harris took the loss in the pitching circle after tossing just over five innings of play. Lauren Miller came on relief in the sixth inning to record the final out.
In the second game of the afternoon, LaGrange took a, 6-0, into the sixth inning before Greensboro was able to get in the scoring column. With two outs in the visiting half of the sixth inning, Sarah Tompkins plated Brittany Rush making the score 6-1.
After scoring their first run of the game, LaGrange pushed one more run across in the bottom half of the inning. With the Pride trailing by the six run margin, Alexis Hall single to left field plating Madison Crisco to pull the Pride back within five runs at 7-2. Greensboro was not able to pull any closer falling by the five run margin.
Alexis Hall had a game high two hits while Madison Crisco, Sarah Connolly, Sarah Tompkins, and Jackie Nicholson combined for the seven Greensboro hits. Lauren Miller took the loss for the Pride while Shelby Drummonds also appeared in the pitching circle.
The Pride will return to the field on Friday afternoon when they host Mary Baldwin in another USA South Athletic Conference series.
