Pride Men Stumble Against Monarchs 95-79

 

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Despite a career-high 28 points by Will Griffin, the Greensboro College men's basketball team was unable to overcome the hot shooting by the Monarchs of Methodist University, falling by a 95-79 mark.

The Pride men jumped out to an early six point lead at 16-10 following a basket by Edric Roberts with 14:00 minutes to play in the opening half. After Greensboro jumped out to the six point lead, Methodist was able to answer with a 10-4 run to tie the game at 20-20 before closing out the half with a 46-37 lead.

In the second half of play, Greensboro College was able to pull within three points at 71-74 following a Griffin trey but could not overcome their early struggles falling by the 95-79 mark.

"We just gave up too many points tonight," Pride Head Coach Bryan Galuski said following the game. "Our defense was not good tonight, and that is something that have to improve."

Edric Roberts, Parris Scales, and Simeon Howard joined Giffin with double digits on the night. Howard poured in 19 points while Roberts and Scales contributed 12 and 11 points respectively/

Roberts also pulled down a team high 10 rebounds to close out his double double performance.

With the loss, the Pride men fall to 13-8 on the season while falling to 6-4 in USA South Athletic Conference play. The Greensboro men will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on the Pacers of William Peace University.  The game is set to get underway at 2:00 PM.
