STANTON, VA – Tiffani Stephens and Alexis Hite had big nights for the Pride women's basketball team as Greensboro was able to top Mary Baldwin 78-40 in their latest USA South Athletic Conference matchup. Stepthens finished the night with her seventh double double of the season recording 23 points and 11 rebounds while Hite chipped in with 17 points.
Greensboro College was quickly able to gain control of the game. Greensboro jumped out to an early 17-3 lead following three straight treys by Marla Crawford and Alexis Hite. Once Greensboro established the double digit margin, they would then add to their lead to go into the break up 43-25.
The second half of the game proved to be the same story for the Pride. Greensboro continued to have a strong presence down low while also using a balanced inside out game to preserve the 78-40 victory.
"I thought that our kids played very well tonight and was able to stay focused on our game plan," Pride Head Coach Randy Tuggle said following the victory. "Tiffani and Alexis got us off to a great job with a very effective inside out game, while Marla and Janae did a great job at the point."
Marla Crawford also had a good night for the Pride recording double digits scoring for this first time this season. Crawford finished the night for Greensboro with ten points on three of eight shooting including three shots from down town.
Kamerin Williams recorded eleven boards along with the fourteen by Stephens to give the Pride an 58-29 advantage.
With the win, the Pride women move to 14-3 overall on the season while bettering their USA South Athletic Conference record to 9-2. The Pride women will take their six game winning streak on the road on Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on William Peace University. The game is set to get underway at 4:00 PM.
