GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College men's basketball team returned to action following the holiday break Tuesday at the Guilford College Holiday Classic.
The Pride (4-4) defeated the Red Devils of Dickinson College (2-6), 92-87, behind a 23 point and 13 rebound night by
Parris Scales.
With the game tied at four, Greensboro used a 9-0 run to jump on top 13-4.
Simeon Howard tallied five of his seven points on the afternoon, while
Joseph Gatling and
Hamilton Hawkins recorded one basket each.
The Red Devils then charged back to take 27-21 lead, before going into the break with a narrow 38-36 lead.
Dickenson then established a 55-47 lead seven minutes into the second period of play, but Greensboro regained the lead at 58-57 following an 11-2 run.
Christopher Corbin accounted for six points during the run before
Zedric Barnett gave the Pride the lead with his lone three-pointer.
Once Greensboro regained the lead they would not look back.
"We picked up a solid win against a very well known Dickinson team," Head Coach
Bryan Galuski said. "We came in and played team basketball. Lorenzo and Zedric came off the bench and provided us a big spark. Now we have to turn our attention quickly to tomorrow afternoon."
Torrence Outing (12),
Lorenzo Marry (14), and
Donavan Griffith (10) each recorded double-figure points. Gatling finished with a team-high four assists.
Ted Hinnenkamp paced Dickinson with 19 points.
