Pride Men's Soccer Falls To Oglethorpe 1-0

BIRMINGHAM, AL—The Greensboro College Pride men's soccer team returned to the field on Sunday afternoon, as they played the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe at the Birmingham Southern Tournament. The Pride fought hard throughout the game, but came up on the short end of the score falling by a final score of 1-0.

Oglethorpe got on the board in the third minute of play for the game's only talley. Shortly after the Petrels tallied the lone goal of the game, the Pride's Craig Gage was able to get a shot on the goal frame but the Oglethorpe keeper was able to keep the Pride off the board.

Greensboro College held a slight 11-10 advantage in the shot category on the day, with Gage leading the way with four (2 SOG). Morgan Stevenson added two shots of his own, while five other Pride players accounted for the remaining five shots.

Logan Rohde (2-3) took the loss in the net for the Pride while recording three saves on the four Oglethorpe shots he faced.

"It was a difficult weekend with two good matches against two well-coached teams," Pride Director of Soccer John Trice said following the game. "Our desire was there, but we must eliminate our unnecessary errors to be successful. We will regroup and look to find a greater commitment this week in training."

With the loss, the Pride's overall record falls to 2-3 overall on the young season. The Greensboro College men will return to action on Friday afternoon when they open USA South play on the road at Covenant College. The first kick is set for 2:00 PM.
