MARYVILLE, TN—The Greensboro College women's soccer team's season came to a close on Sunday afternoon in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. Melanie Raton got this scoring started for the Pride but it was not enough as the Pride fell by a 4-2 margin.
Raton got the Pride on the board first in the 23rd minute of play following an assist by Samara Alba to give Greensboro a 1-0 lead. However, Maryville was able to even the score in the 33rd minute to send the game into the intermission break tied 1-1.
The Scots then scored two more goals to pull out in front 3-1 before Greensboro College was able to find the back of the net once more. Lauren Gresson placed the ball past the Maryville keeper for her sixth goal of the season to bring the Pride to within 3-2 just 13 minutes into the final frame. Maryville later added one final goal to hold on for the 4-2 win.
Jessica Thatcher took the loss in the net for the Pride despites making four saves.
Greensboro College was outshot on the day by a 13-6 margin. Lauren Greeson, Elizabeth Torres, Allison Gibson, and Melanie Raton each accounted for at least one shot in the game.
With the loss the Pride women finish the season with a 9-8-1 overall mark.
