Season Synopsis
2019-2020: The Pride women posted an overall record of 15-1, while going 10-6 in conference play and also advanced to the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament. Following the season, two players were named to the USA South All-East Division Team.
2018-2019: The Pride women posted an overall mark of 19-7, while going 12-4 in USA South Athletic Conference play. Following the season, three players were named to the USA South All-East Division team.
2017-2018: The Pride women posted an overall mark of 20-7, while winning the USA South East Division Race with a 14-2 conference record. Greensboro then advanced to the USA South Athletic Conference Championship Game where they fell to Piedmont College. Following the season, Katie Lewis was named to the All-USA South East Division.
2016-2017: Tuggle led the Pride women to an overall record of 16-11, while going 10-4 in USA South Athletic Conference play.
2015-2016: The Pride women’s basketball team went 14-11 on the season, while posting a 10-5 mark in conference play. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Alexis Hite was named second-team All-Conference.
2014-2015: The women’s basketball team made their second NCAA appearance under Tuggle’s direction after capturing the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. Greensboro was led throughout the season by first-team All-Conference selection Shanita Hampton and tournament MVP Tiffani Stephens.
2013-2014: Under the direction of their fifth-year, head coach Randy Tuggle, the Pride women posted and overall record of 20-6, which was the third 20-win season under his direction. Following the year, Tuggle’s squad had two players named to the All-Conference teams.
2012-2013: The Pride posted an overall record of 12-13 in 2012-2013, while going 8-10 in league play. However, Greensboro’s Bianca Richburg was named USA South Rookie of the Year.
2011-2012: In his third season at the helm, Tuggle guided the Pride to an overall record of 22-5 and 15-3 in USA South Action. Following the year, All-American Danielle Duncan was named first-team All-Conference and USA South Player of the Year, while Bianca Richburg, Chevena Pickard and Adrienne Terrell also earned All-Conference accolades.
2010-2011: In just his second season as the Pride’s head women’s basketball coach, Tuggle guided the Greensboro women to the programs most successful season. Tuggle’s squad finished the regular season with a 17-1 mark in conference play to earn the top seed in the tournament. Following the conclusion of the regular season, Tuggle was named USA South Coach of the Year, while Chevena Pickard was named Rookie of the Year. After falling in the championship game, Greensboro received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where they reached the Sweet 16 before falling to finish the year with an impressive 28-3 mark.
2009-2010: Under the direction of first-year head coach Randy Tuggle, the Pride women’s basketball team posted an overall mark of 8-16, while going 6-12 in USA South play.
Prior to Greensboro College
Prior to assuming the head coaching role at Greensboro College, Tuggle helped lead The Pride to three Conference Regular Season Championships, four Conference Tournament Championships, and four NCAA Tournament appearances under Hall of Fame Coach, Jayson Tuggle.
Tuggle arrived at Greensboro College in 2001 after spending three years as an assistant coach at Northwest Guilford High School, his alma mater. Prior to his time at Northwest, Randy was an assistant coach at Western Guilford High School where the Hornets were Piedmont Triad 3A Conference champions and advanced in the State Playoffs. He also helped start the NC Lady Gators AAU program, a team that placed 6th at Nationals
As a longtime native of the Greensboro area, Randy was a four-year letter winner for the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro. His junior year he played an integral role with a Spartan squad that qualified for the NCAA national tournament, and was selected team captain his senior season.
In addition to basketball, Tuggle has strong connections to the Greensboro business community.
