Tyler Card

Tyler Card was named Greensboro College’s head football coach in January 2020 and enters his 6th season as head coach in 2025.

At Greensboro College:
2024: The Pride finished 1-9 in 2024. Highlighting the season, the team had six USA South All-Conference players, including Max Steele, Ja'Shawn Harris, Deshawn Holman, Frank Walker, JaJuan Givens, and Wes Kidd. Josh Sims was also named to the conference's All-Sportsmanship team. Greensboro's defense was ranked 4th in interceptions and sacks in the USA South. 

2023: The Pride finished the season with a 2 -8 record. Highlighting the season, player Larry Jones was named USA South Defensive Rookie of the Year.  Three players were named to the First Team All-Conference (Max Steele, Jaden James, Ja'Shawn Harris).  Three players were named to the Second Team All-Conference (Ryan Buchanan, Ernest Bencomo, and Will Pailthorpe). Alec Williams-Carr received Honorable Mention.

2022: The Pride finished the season with a 1-9 record.  Cale Matthews was named to the Second Team All-Conference.

2021: The Pride finished the season with a 0-10 record.  Zach Allman was named the Second Team All-Conference.

Prior to Greensboro College:
Card came to the Pride following a five-year stint at Sul Ross State University where he spent the past three seasons as the program’s offensive coordinator.
 
During his time at Sul Ross, Card coached 32 offensive All-Conference players. In 2016, the Lobos finished with a 6-4 record, solidifying the first winning season in 20 years, before going 5-5 in 2017 and receiving top-25 votes in the NCAA Division III polls. In addition, that team had a record 23 seniors that played, which was the most in school history.
 
In addition to his coaching duties, Card also served as the Lobos recruiting coordinator where he was responsible for all aspects of recruiting including creation and execution of all visits, operations of ARMS recruiting database, and liaison to admissions and financial aid. Card was also the liaison for academics for all football players, working directly with the tutor and learning center, while implementing a study hall program and class checks.

Prior to his time at Sul Ross State University, Card was the offensive line coach at Pace University. Under second-year coach Andy Rondeau, The Setters were able to break a 38-game losing streak, which was the longest streak in NCAA at the time. Card had 1 offensive linemen make NE10 All-Conference.
 
In addition, Card also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Weber State University. During that time, he worked with the running backs and offensive line, while assisting in the development of several Big-Sky All-Conference players.
 
In his first year at Weber State, Card was the Football Athletic Coordinator where he organized and implemented new academic standards and study hall, performed class checks, implemented study hall program and supervised, performed grade checks and monitoring. This helped to improved APR to help prevent post-season ban. The football GPA reached a 5 year high to 2.87, while the freshman overall GPA was a 3.07. 
 
Card’s first coaching opportunity came at his alma mater, Southern Virginia University. He was the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. During that time, SVU was a member of the NAIA independent conference. As the recruiting coordinator he was responsible for increasing the roster from 70 players to over 90 players during the two years.
 
Card was a three-year member and standout offensive lineman for the Southern Virginia football program. In 2007, the Knights recorded the first winning record in program history at 6-4 to win the conference title. Card garnered NAIA All-Independent First Team and VaSID All-State Second Team honors following a stellar senior season in 2009. That same year, Card was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. Card was a three-year captain, NAIA Champion of Character award recipient, and invited to the NAIA Senior All-Star game.

Card earned his B.A. from Southern Virginia in Business Management and Leadership in 2010, a M.A. of Professional Communication from Weber State University in 2014, and a second M.A. in Health and Human Performance from Sul Ross State University in 2017. Card and his wife Danielle, have two children – Rocky (5) and Gloria (1).
