Cory Dumas

Cory Dumas joins the Greensboro College Men's Basketball coaching staff for the 2025-2026 season. Dumas comes from Davidson-Davie Community College where he spend two seasons as an assistant coach. While at Davidson-Davie CC, Dumas helped lead the team to a first place finish in the conference in his first season with a 35-2 record. The team would go on to finish 3rd place in the national tournament. In his second season, the team also finished first in the conference with a 31-5 record. The team reached #1 in the national JUCO rankings and later finished 6th in the national tournament. 

Dumas was a former four-sport athlete (basketball, football, soccer, and track) at High Point Andrews. He later attended North Carolina A&T State University to play basketball, however, his playing career was cut short due to two ACL tears. He graduated in 2005 with a degree majoring in Exercise Sports Science. Upon graduation, he obtained a position with the City of High Point as a Senior Lead Director in the parks and recreation department from 2006-2015. During his tenure, he mentored inner city youth, performed volunteer work with the visually impaired residents of High Point, created programs for the youth as well as the adult population, served as a venue manager of cycling with Special Olympics of North Carolina, as well as the head of the annual midnight basketball program.

· In 2011 Coach Dumas joined the coaching staff at Calvary Baptist Day School as an assistant men’s varsity basketball coach. In 2014 he became the Head men’s J.V. Coach while still serving as an assistant to the varsity team as well. Coach Dumas’s team finished with a record of 20-3 and a conference record of 16-0 during the 2015-16 season.

· In 2012 Coach Dumas became the head coach of the Men’s 17U Triad Defenders Basketball Organization. After one year as head coach, he led the team to a second-place finish in the North Carolina USSSA state championship. In 2015 and 2016 Coach Dumas’ team won the NC State USSSA 17U Men’s Basketball State Championship. They placed 2nd as state runner-up in 2017.

· In 2016 Coach Dumas began teaching Sports Medicine and Team sports at UNCG Middle College while still coaching at Calvary Day School located in Winston-Salem.

· In 2019 coach Dumas accepted the head men’s basketball coaching position at his former high school T. W. Andrews. In four seasons he was able to revive the historic program from being ranked 258 in the state to finishing 9th and 8th ranked team in his last two seasons.

· Coach Dumas is a firm believer in Philippians 4:13, he can do all things through Christ, and he has a passion to motivate and inspire all walks of life in a positive direction.
