Jon Woodburn has been the Assistant Men's and Women's Wrestling Coach since 2022, and also serves as the Building Manager for the Royce and Jane Reynolds Family Student Life Center (Reynolds Center) located at 1015 W. Market Street, the former site of the Central YMCA. In this capacity, Woodburn manages both assistant coaching staff and work-study students to provide daily building supervision. The Building Manager will regularly interface with the Athletic Department Administrative Manager and Conferences and Event Director in reserving spaces for activities as well as the Director of Student Engagement for intramural events and Head Swimming Coach for aquatics events.
His Building Manager responsibilities include opening and closing duties, monitoring points of access for the General Fitness Room, Aerobics Room, Triathlon Studio, Varsity Strength and Fitness Rooms, 2nd floor court areas, Wrestling Training Rooms, Golf Studio, and Swimming Pool/Aquatics area. Administrative areas include the Dr. Milton Reece Media Room, Mane Stage, William Smith Ariail Hall of Fame Lounge, and Coterie Meeting Room. The Reynolds Center also houses office and small meeting spaces for the majority of Pride Athletic teams.
A 1995 graduate of North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA, Woodburn attended UNC-Greensboro where he received the Weaver Athletic Scholarship and was a 4-year member of the Spartan's NCAA Division I Wrestling program. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism with a concentration in Management. While still in college, Woodburn served as an Assistant Aquatics Director at the YWCA of Greensboro and became the Aquatics Director at the YWCA in High Point in 2000-01. While at the High Point YWCA, he developed adaptive aquatics programming for individuals with special needs and partnered with High Point Regional Hospital to create the cardiac rehabilitation water exercise class, instructed lifeguards, and performed or supervised all pool maintenance.
From 2002-06, Woodburn was the Aquatics and Fitness Director for the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA of Greensboro, and also served as an adjunct professor at Bennett College for aquatics. He later transitioned to becoming a Recreation Center Supervisor for the City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department. From 2011-17, Woodburn served as a wrestling coach at the Greensboro Day School where he also worked as a substitute teacher. He was honored by GDS in 2011-12 as the Frank Brenner Coach's Award recipient. For the next 9 years, he worked in merchandising which allowed him flexibility to continue his coaching passion in wrestling at Walter Page Senior High School.
During that time period up to the present, Woodburn also became a co-owner and Vice President for Operations for Gauntlet Wrestling Productions. He left the wrestling mat briefly to become a teacher in the Exceptional Children-Adaptive unit at Page where he was responsible for daily lesson planning and progress monitoring.
