Greensboro College Athletics has announced the hiring of Patrick Westervelt as its new Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach.

Westervelt, a Northwest Guilford High School graduate, began his running career in 2006 at Northwest Guilford and continued running for four years at Guilford College. He continued to run competitively after Guilford and earned his masters in kinesiology with a focus on exercise physiology. He has coached every age athlete from youth level to professional athletes since 2010. He is a certified exercise physiologist and is currently getting his Level 1 USA T&F certification.

Director of Athletics, Jerry Fisk, says of Westervelt's hiring, "I'm excited to have Patrick on board and believe in his ability to help grow cross country at Greensboro College. I think he is a great fit, and the future of the program is bright.

Westervelt says of joining Greensboro College, "I am most looking forward to seeing how I can make an impact starting with the 2025 season and growing the program from here. Between the student-athletes, community culture, and winning traditions at Greensboro College, I am excited to get to play a role in developing the cross country program. Most importantly, I aim to see that every student-athlete find their place on and off the course."
