Mario Castillo

Greensboro College has announced that Mario Alberto Castillo has been appointed ESports Manager effective immediately. Mario earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from UNC-Greensboro in December, 2015. He is also an alumnus of Greensboro College, completing the Piedmont Licensure Program in Music Education in May, 2022.

Professionally, Castillo has served a variety of roles within the North Carolina Public School System, as well as the private sector. Most recently, he was the Orchestra/Chorus Director at Western Guilford Middle School for Guilford County Schools, following a summer session at the Greensboro Global Academy. He also conducted private lessons for the Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts and served as the Band Director and Head of Fine Arts for Alamance Burlington Schools' Graham Middle School. Earlier in his career he was the Bilingual Executive Assistant and a Teaching Artist for the Young Musicians of Alamance in Burlington, NC.

An avid participant in ESports competitions, Castillo has used his experiences as a streamer to enhance his skills in strategic thinking, teamwork, and leadership. Additionally, he has demonstrated his technical proficiency and commitment to the gaming world by building his own gaming PC, expertise that will help ensure that gaming equipment in the ESports Studio on campus is in optimal condition.
