GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro College Women's Lacrosse team (2-9, 1-4) was unable to slow a fast-paced Piedmont (8-5, 6-0) attack on Saturday morning, falling 20–0 to the Lions in USA South Athletic Conference play at Pride Field.
Piedmont jumped out to an early lead, scoring 10 times in the opening quarter to take control of the contest. Greensboro worked to settle defensively after the early surge, with goalkeeper Aaliyah Akers making several saves.
The Lions added four goals in the second quarter to extend their advantage to 14–0 at the half. Greensboro continued to battle, but struggled to clear consistently against Piedmont's aggressive defense.
Greensboro's defense remained active after the break, holding Piedmont to five goals in the third quarter. Akers recorded multiple stops against free-position and close-range chances, while the defensive unit forced several turnovers to slow the Lions' rhythm.
Piedmont scored once more in the fourth quarter to close out the game. The Pride continued to compete through all four quarters, working to generate transition opportunities and limit second-chance looks.
Akers finished with 12 saves in the cage, facing 35 shots. Brynly Manwaring led Greensboro with four ground balls, while Keira Fenyo and Genesis Chinchilla each recorded multiple ground balls and caused turnovers on the defensive end.
