Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Women's Lacrosse (1-1) hosted Sweet Briar (0-1) on Sunday afternoon and earned a 14-6 win over the Vixens for their first win of the season.
The Pride were led by Syndey Patton, who scored a career high 5 goals to go along with 5 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.
Greensboro got out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. Patton,
KP Pageot, and
Brynly ManWaring all scored in the period. They then scored 4 more goals in the second to take a 7-2 lead at halftime.
The Vixens got their offense going in the third quarter, scoring 3 goals, but the Pride matched them with 3 goals of their own. The Pride then pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Sweet Briar 4-1.
Freshman goalie
Aaliayh Akers earned her first collegiate win in goal, collecting 5 saves. Pageot and
Keira Fenyo each scored 3 times while
Kenzie Helton scored twice. As a team, Greensboro had 15 caused turnovers on the defensive end.
Notes:
- Pageot's 3 goals are the first in her career.
- Greensboro has now won their last two matchups against Sweet Briar.
