Greensboro, NC - In an exciting USA South contest, Greensboro Women's Lacrosse earned their way into the conference tournament with a 16-14 victory over Huntingdon on Sunday.
The Pride and the Hawks battled all game long, with Greensboro outlasting Huntingdon behind
Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce and
Brynly ManWaring's five goals. For Espinosa-Ponce, she scored her 100th career goal in the second quarter, securing 100 goals and 100 points in her career.Â
After the first quarter. the teams were tied 4-4. Greensboro took the lead after a seven goal second quarter to take an 11-8 lead into the half. The Pride extended the lead to six goals after a 3-0 third quarter.Â
The Hawks made a run in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pride 6-2, but Greensboro would hang on for the win.
Keira Fenyo played a key part in the win by scoring four goals, while
Regan Dailey and
Laihla Stevens each scored one goal.
ManWaring had four assists, totaling nine points, while Espinosa-Ponce had two assists. Fenyo and
Ashley Angel had three caused turnovers, and ManWaring had two. In total, Greensboro had ten caused turnovers.
In goal,
Carly Walton earned the win, tallying twelve saves.
The Pride will play their last non-conference game of the season at Ferrum on Wednesday, with game time set for 4:00 pm.
