Rocky Mount, NC - Greensboro Softball took on NC Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon and split a doubleheader with the Battling Bishops.
Game One: Greensboro 6, NC Wesleyan 0
Ella Ebert was the story in game one as she threw a complete game shutout. Ebert struck out five Bishops hitters and gave up just three hits. She didn't give up her first hit until the 6th inning. Ebert improves to 5-3 this season and lowers her ERA to 2.66, which is second best in the USA South.
Greensboro got a big performance from
Ivy Ray, who went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. She also had a stolen base.
Anna Frazier went 2-4 with three RBI out of the cleanup spot. As a team, the Pride had eleven hits for the game and four stolen bases.Â
Game Two: NC Wesleyan 3, Greensboro 2
Despite six hits and four walks, the Pride could only score two runs in game two as the Bishops split the two game series. Greensboro scored two runs in the first inning on a
Raven Taylor RBI followed by an
Anna Frazier RBI single.Â
NC Wesleyan scored once in the first and would tie the game 2-2 in the fourth. They took the lead with a run in the fifth and held down the Pride offense the rest of the way.
Raina Hampel pitched all six innings for Greensboro, striking out three. The Pride had four more stolen bases while
Ella Ebert hit two doubles.Â
Greensboro will prepare for a home series against Pfeiffer next Saturday, with game one beginning at 1:00 pm.
