Tomlinson Takes Home First Place in Wasps Women's Open

Emory, VA - Greensboro Women's Wrestling competed in the Wasps Women's Open on Friday at Emory and Henry. Sophomore Kyra Tomlinson earned a first place finish in the 138lb class after going 3-0 for the tournament.

Tomlinson, ranked 19th in the nation in the 138lb class according to The Open Mat, dominated in her three matches. She defeated Ariyanah Parson of Cumberlands by a 16-6 Tech-Fall win, and then won her match against Bliss Joyce from Frostburg State by a 10-0 Tech-Fall. Tomlinson won her final round against Kalyse Hill of Mount Olive by Tech-Fall 11-0 to secure the first place victory.

With the three wins on Friday, Tomlinson is now 14-1 on the season.

Allyssa Wasmund, Minnie Locklear, and Genesis Chinchilla also competed for Greensboro, each going 0-2. 

The women's wrestling team will compete next in a dual at Delaware State on December 19th at 3:30 pm.
