Sweet Briar, VA - The Greensboro Women's Lacrosse team earned their first win of the season on Tuesday as they defeated Sweet Briar College 15-13.
It was a career day for
Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce, as she scored a career high nine goals. She also had two ground balls.
Greensboro found themselves down 4-3 after one quarter of play, but then tied the game in the second quarter on a goal by
Grace Dobson.
The Pride then scored seven goals in the third quarter and led 11-8 heading into the fourth. Sweet Briar out-scored Greensboro 5-4 in the final period but the Pride were able to hold off the comeback attempt to secure their first win of the year.
Senior
Sabrina Speake scored two goals with one assist, while
Gabby Heck also scored two goals.
Emily Gearhart and
Grace Dobson scored one goal each.
Tamera Hooker came up with five ground balls, and
Carly Walton had nineteen saves in goal and four ground balls.
The Pride will play again when they host Piedmont on April 13th at 4:00 pm.
