Boone, NC - The Greensboro Men's Wrestling team traveled to Appalachian State on Sunday, a day after a big ODAC victory over Southern Virginia on Saturday.
The Mountaineers would win the match 51-3, but
Josh Wilson would again defeat a Division I opponent for the third time this season. Wilson won his match against Isaac Byers by Decision 4-1.
Wilson is now 20-1 this season, and he has won 20 matches in a row. With today's win, it is his third against a Division I opponent. In the Carolina Duals, Wilson defeated Derek Guanajuato from North Carolina and Ananth Manibushan from Queens (NC). Wilson is ranked #2 in NCAA Division III in the 141 pound class.
Appalachian State is ranked in the top 25 in NCAA Division I by multiple publications heading into today's match. They also defeated The Citadel on Sunday 33-4.
Greensboro will wrestle again on January 27th when they go back to Boone for the Appalachian Open.Â
