Triumphs on the Road

In a highly anticipated clash on the road, the Greensboro College Women's Soccer team secured their first victory by defeating Ferrum College with a dramatic 86th-minute penalty kick.

From the opening whistle, it was evident that both teams were eager to make their mark, with each side producing several chances on goal. However, it was the Pride that would seized control of the game.

Amery Skinner, in particular, proved to be a relentless force on the field, taking three shots on goal before her moment of glory in the 86th minute. With nerves of steel, Skinner stepped up to the penalty spot and coolly converted the game-winning goal, sending the Greensboro supporters into a frenzy of celebration. Her performance exemplified the team's tenacity and never-give-up attitude, making her the undisputed hero of the match.

The statistics speak volumes about Greensboro's dominance in this contest. They recorded a total of 11 shots, with 7 of those being on target. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Sofia Pagnamenta was nothing short of exceptional, tallying an impressive nine saves to thwart Ferrum College's attempts to level the playing field. Pagnamenta's outstanding performance between the posts, played a pivotal role in securing the victory for her team.

Coach Mike Johnston, beaming with pride after the match, expressed his delight with the team's performance. He stated, "What a gutsy win on the road in a tough enviroment. Ferrum is a very quality team and scored 10 goals in their first two games. I thought Sofia was fantastic in goal and our entire back 4 had a great game to preserve the shut out. I'm proud of our resilience and were thrilled to be headed home with the win.1"

With the first win of the season under their belts, the Greensboro College Women's Soccer team is now setting their sights on their next challenge. They will face off against the Regent University Royals in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, September 13th, at 4:00 PM. This match promises to be another exciting showdown, and the team is eager to continue their winning streak as they aim to make this season one to remember.
