Greensboro, NC - In a thrilling display of athleticism and determination, Greensboro College's Grace Dobson made her debut in the world of triathlons at the highly anticipated Ridgewood Try a Tri for Hospice. Held at the picturesque Ridgewood Swim and Tennis Club, located just outside of the Greensboro city limits, this late-season pool-swim triathlon was a true test of endurance and commitment. What made this event even more special was its noble cause, with 100% of the race entry fees directly benefiting AuthoraCare Hospice (formerly known as HPCG).
The Ridgewood Try a Tri for Hospice saw athletes from various colleges and universities, including Queens College, Duquesne University, and Guilford College, joining the Pride in the pursuit of excellence and a chance to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
The race kicked off with a 200-meter swim in the refreshing waters of the Ridgewood Swim and Tennis Club's pool. Grace, a first-time triathlete, displayed remarkable poise as she navigated through the water. The transition to the next leg of the race, a challenging 10-mile bike ride along open roads, was executed with precision.
As Grace pedaled her way through the scenic Guilford County landscape, she showed remarkable tenacity and determination. Her fellow competitors from Queens College, Duquesne University, and Guilford College were equally impressive, creating a fiercely competitive atmosphere throughout the course.
The final stretch of the triathlon featured a rolling 2-mile run in the Ridgewood neighborhood, demanding one last burst of energy from the athletes. Grace, though new to the sport, exhibited incredible endurance as she powered through the run, showcasing her commitment to pushing her limits.
When the dust settled and the cheers of spectators filled the air, Grace Dobson secured a commendable 19th place finish in her debut triathlon. Her achievement was nothing short of inspirational, proving that dedication and a fearless spirit can lead to remarkable accomplishments.
