Pride fall in USA South Athletic Conference Championship to Pfeiffer, complete historic season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Misenheimer, NC – The #2 seed Greensboro College Softball team traveled an hour west to face Pfeiffer University in the USA South best of three Championship Series.  Both teams had earned their way into the series going undefeated in their pods last weekend, but on Saturday the Falcons would sweep the Pride to win the title by scores of 10-3 and 6-0.

Game One

Pfeiffer struck first with a two-run home run to take the early lead and it would stay that way through the next inning, until the Falcons added four more runs to increase their advantage to 6-0.  The scoring would continue with another Pfeiffer home run to make it an eight-run lead.  However, Junior Alexis Sox (Burlington, NC) came to the plate in the top of the fourth inning and hit a home run over left center field to get Greensboro on the board.  Sox would do it again in the next inning with an RBI single, which was followed by an RBI single from Junior Ivy Ray (Thomasville, NC) to trim the advantage to 8-3.  Unfortunately, the Falcons would add two more runs to close out the game, 10-3.

The Pride were led by Sox who finished 2-3 2ith 2 RBI's, while Sophomore Madison Dillner (Leicester, NC) went 2-4 with a run.

Game Two

Pfeiffer would get on the board first again with three runs and then add another two in the fourth inning, to lead Greensboro 5-0.  The Falcons added another run in the sixth inning and ultimately would go on to win the game 6-0.

The Pride were led by Sophomore Kelsey Craven (Ramseur, NC) who finished 2-3, while Sox also added a hit.

Head Coach Meredith Mills, Assistant Coach Steven Tudors and the entire Greensboro College Athletic Department would like to thank all family, friends and fans who made this historic season possible.
