Greensboro, NC – On Wednesday afternoon, the Greensboro College Women's Lacrosse team was back on Pride Field to host USA South foe Southern Virginia University in the first game of a Lacrosse doubleheader. It had been an emotional 10 days for the Pride and they were ready to turn their focus to the Knights. While Greensboro showed some impressive offensive scores, they would ultimately fall to Southern Virginia by a score of 23-3.
While the Knights scored the first two goals of the game, the Pride would have an answer when Sophomore
Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce (Winston-Salem, NC) bounced one past the goalie to cut the lead to 2-1. She would do it again, two more times, to end the first quarter with Greensboro only trailing 6-3. Unfortunately, the Pride were unable to get on the board again and would fall to Southern Virginia, 23-3.
Espinosa-Ponce led Greensboro with three goals on four shots, while Junior
Eve McDonnell (Dundalk, Ireland) added an assist and three ground balls. In addition, backup goalie Freshman
Carly Walton (Tulsa, OK) finished the game with 10 saves.
The Pride will return to action on Saturday, April 1
st as they host Pfeiffer University at Pride Field. Start time is scheduled for 5:00pm.
