Greensboro, NC – Head Greensboro College Football Coach, Tyler Card, has announced the hiring of Muarice Torain as the program's new Defensive Coordinator. This is not his first stint with the Pride, as Coach Torain previously served as Greensboro's Assistant Running Backs Coach in 2015-2016. In addition, from 2009-2011, he played defensive back for the Pride, while also serving as Co-Captain, starting 30 games during his career.
"I am very excited to have coach Torain coming back to the Pride," said Coach Card. "I know that he is going to bring a lot of energy and experience to our defense. Greensboro College has a special place in his heart and he has been a huge proponent for this program since I began here. We are very fortunate to have him back home with the Pride."
Coach Torain comes to Greensboro College after serving two years as the Head Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator at John M. Morehead High School. While at Morehead, he developed a 2022 NCCA East/West All-Star selection, a 2021 Mid-State 2A Defensive Player of the Year and 12 Mid-State 2A All-Conference selections, while making the first round of the NCHSAA Playoffs. Prior to Morehead, Coach Torian was the Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach for Southeast Guilford High School where they were the 2021 Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference Champions, had the 2021 Mid-Piedmont 3A Defensive Player of The Year and four Mid-Piedmont 3A All Conference Defensive Players.
From 2018-2020 he served as the Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach at Northeast Guilford High School. During his tenure, Coach Torain helped develop a 2020 NCCA East/West All Star selection, 2019 Mid-State 3A Defensive Player of The Year, 2018 Mid-State 3A Defensive Player of The Year and Nine Mid-State 3A All Conference Defensive Players, while his defenses only allowed 45 rushing yards/game. Before coming to Northeast Guilford, Coach Torian was the Secondary Coach at East Montgomery High School.
