Grantham, PA - The Greensboro Men's Wrestling team finished their two day tournament hosted by Messiah University in Grantham, PA on Saturday.
Josh Wilson, who is ranked #3 in NCAA DIII, won his third straight tournament in the 141 pound weight class to continue his dominant start to the season.
Wilson defeated Andrew Loniewski from Muhlenberg in round one on Friday, and then beat Nick Germano from King's College 19-4 in round two. In the quarterfinals match-up, Wilson went up against Garrett Gehr from Alvernia and won 16-5.Â
Wilson would then face off against Asa Brunk from Messiah University in the semifinals match. Wilson battled his way to victory in the championship match to win 8-4 for his third straight tournament championship of the 2023-2024 season.Â
With the win, Wilson defends his title from last year's Messiah Petrofes Tournament. He also won the Most Outstanding Wrestler at last year's event. Another bright spot for Greensboro was
Khalil Belk, who had a great showing at the tournament on Saturday. He advanced to the semifinal round in the 197 pound weight class.
Belk began his tournament by defeating Myles Brown from Alvernia and then took down Jaleel Jones from Averett. In the quarterfinals, Belk took on Deon Savage from Muhlenberg and defeated him to advance to the semifinals. Belk would lose to Nick Rogers from Springfield College in the semifinals, but put on an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.Â
Coach
Justin Harty shared his thoughts on the weekend saying, "We are so proud of this team and the grit and determination given in every match. We were aggressive and fought for every point, and there is visible performance improvement from every wrestler and that is awesome to see!"
