Brevard, NC
The Pride softball team won 8-0 in 5 innings on Tuesday afternoon (March 8). Pitcher
Cheyanne Cox continued her stellar Senior season from the mound, going all five innings and allowing just one hit. She rang up 12 Tornado batters in the process.
Offensively, Greensboro jumped out to a 5-0 1st inning lead as
Kassie Simmons hit a 2-RBI double, and then
Hannah King hit an RBI-single up the middle to bring in
Alexis Sox.
M'Kenzie Davis brought in two more runs in the 2nd inning on a 2-RBI single to right field to make it 7-0 Greensboro. The Pride would tack on another insurance run on a Brevard throwing error, and cruised to the 8-0 win.
The second game was canceled due to weather, so the Pride now sits at 7-1 on the season. They will look to keep its winning streak alive as they host Ithaca on Sunday at Latham Park for a double-header starting at 1pm.
