The Greensboro College Pride grapplers traveled to Averett this past Saturday to compete in the Southeast Conference Championships, where they scored a fourth-place finish.  Joshua Wilson and Hai Siu each won first at their respective weights, and five other Pride wrestlers earned spots at the podium.

Wilson improved his record to 29-2 after going 3-0 on the day and earned his first SEWC title at 133 pounds.  Wilson defeated Ferrum College's Trent Proctor with a 15-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals, followed by a 15-2 major decision over Huntingdon's Andrew Smith in the semifinals.  In the finals, the returning NWCA All-American dominated Roanoke College's Sean Hall, scoring ten unanswered points, and securing a fall within the first three minutes of the match.

Hai Sui, who returned to the Pride lineup for the first time this season, secured his third straight SEWC titile after going 4-0.  Siu began the day with a 19-7 major decision over Roanoke's Ryan Foutz, then won by fall over Ferrum's Christian Hite in the quarterfinals.  In the semifinals, Siu wrestled Averett University's Jesse Alvarado, who is currently ranked 19th in the nation, and came out victorious 8-6.  In the finals, Siu controlled the bout, scoring one last takedown in the final five seconds, and earned an 8-5 decision over the University of Ozarks' Joaquin Bautista.

 Joel Kanagy, who placed third at 184 pounds, finished the day with a 4-1 record, which included two pins and one major decision.  Kanagy earned 16.5 of the Pride's 98.5 points.

The Pride also had three wrestlers finish fourth at their respective weights.  Daniel Porter at 125 pounds, Joshua Cox at 141 pounds, and Max Steele at 197 pounds.  Brandon Williams finished fifth place at 285 pounds.
