Williamsport, PA
The Greensboro College Wrestling program traveled this weekend to Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA for the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament. The team finished 11
th overall out of 20 teams, with four wrestlers placing in the top 8 of their respective weight classes. The Pride will be sending two wrestlers to the 2022 NCAA Championships in Cedar Rapids, IA, which is the first time in program history where we will have multiple wrestlers representing Greensboro College.
Joshua Wilson, the #3 seed, defeated the  #2 seed in the semi-finals, to automatically qualify for the 2022 NCAA Championships. Joshua Wilson lost a heartbreaking 3-2 decision against the #5 wrestler in the nation.
Hai Siu, after falling to the  #1 ranked wrestler in the nation in the semi-finals, was able to rattle off two straight victories to finish 3
rd, punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships for a second time in his career.
Joel Kanagy advanced to day two at 184 lbs. finishing 8
th place, which was the first time the senior reached the podium at the NCAA Southeast Regionals. At 285 lbs., 
Brandon Williams also reached the podium for the first time in his career, finishing 7
th with a 10-0 major decision.
On day one of competition, the Pride had four wrestlers miss the podium by one match, with 
Daniel Porter, 
Joshua Cox, 
Reggie Snowden and 
Max Steele.
Coach Birmingham says, "This was an incredible effort from this extremely young team. Some have now experienced for the first time this event is a warzone. Everyone dreams of being a national champion, and this is step one in giving you an opportunity to achieve that goal. We are extremely proud of their fight and belief in our philosophy of peaking at the right time, which is exactly what they did!"

Wilson and Siu will travel next week to Cedar Rapids, IA for the second season in a row and will compete March 11-12.
Ariana Wolkerstorfer and Isabella Ruiz will be competing this weekend at NCAA Championships on the women's side of the sport March 4-5 in Adrian, MI. If available, come to the "GC Wrestling Team Send Off" Wednesday morning at 10 AM from the corner of College Place and Odell Place!
