FERRUM, Va.---Greensboro College's
Josh Wilson scored an upset victory over an All-American wrestler as the Pride dropped a Wednesday evening matchup to Ferrum College, 39-12.
Ferrum earned points off of forfeits in four weight classes to help bolster their score. However, Greensboro scored victories in the evening from their top wrestlers. Wilson's victory over two-time All-American Levi Engelman in the 133-pound weight class marks the freshman's first victory over an All-American wrestler. Engelman placed third in his weight class in last year's NCAA Regionals. Wilson scored a tight 6-4 decision over Engelman for the night's first victory for Greensboro. Wilson remains undefeated on the season.
Hai Siu continued his unbeaten season as he earn the Pride's lone fall victory of the evening. In the 149-pound weight class, Siu pinned Caden Dalton in 5:37. The win marks Siu's third pin of the season while his individual record in the regular season improves to 3-0.
Brandon Williams scored a victory on the heavyweight side to round out the Pride's effort. The 285-pound heavyweight class wrestler scored a decision over Ferrum's Reyshawn Dixon, 9-2. Williams earned his fourth overall win of the season with the victory and his first win as a decision this season.
The Pride continue in their season Friday, traveling to St. Andrews for a quad-meet featuring the Knights as well as the University of Mount Olive, and Liberty. The start of the meet is scheduled for 5 p.m.
