The Greensboro College men's wrestling team welcomed the Roanoke College Maroons. The dual came down to the final bout as the Maroons pulled out the 20-18 victory.
Roanoke (1-1) took the early lead with a pin at 165 and kept the pressure with a major decision in the 174 match. A decision at 184 gave the Maroons a 13-0 lead but
Khalil Belk put Greensboro (2-4) on the board with an 8-1 decision.
Brandon Williams followed suit at heavyweight as he earned an 8-2 decision. At 125,
Daniel Porter pulled the Pride within two (13-11) with a 16-1 (5:33) technical fall.
Josh Wilson then gave GC its first lead of the night with a major decision (12-3).
Joshua Cox had extended the lead at 141 with a 3-1 decision. At 149, Roanoke pulled within two (18-16) with an 8-1 decision.
The match came down to the final bout, the 157-pound weight class. The match started with both sides going back and forth but the Maroons came out on top with a 12-3 major decision. Roanoke won by the two-point margin.
Greensboro will concluded the 2021 part of its schedule on Sunday, December 12 at the Cougar Duals hosted by Averett University.
