George and Wilson Collect Wins as Pride Squads Split with Ferrum, Fall to William Peace

GREENSBORO, N.C.---Greensboro College swimmers Spencer George and Ethan Wilson collected individual wins as the men split a pair of matchups while the women dropped both in a Saturday afternoon tri-meet. The Pride men defeated Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Ferrum College, 39-7, while the women fell to the Panthers, 121-8. The men dropped their non-conference matchup with William Peace University, 87-30, and the women fell to the Pacers, 107-9.

George claimed the men's 100-yard freestyle event, posting a time of 50.51 seconds, shaving off .35 seconds from his previous race. George held a 2.3-second lead over William Peace's Stephen Lundberg through the first 50 yards and added another 1.2 seconds to his lead in the final 50 yards. George also placed second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.48 while also placing second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.30 seconds. The mark was just .09 seconds off the winning time from William Peace's Noah Jimison.

Ethan Wilson claimed victory in the men's 100-yard fly with a time of 58.86 seconds, the only finish under one minute in the race. Wilson's time was 2.32 seconds faster than the next-best finish thanks to a strong start out of the blocks. He claimed a 1.24-second lead in the first 50 yards and nearly doubled his lead in the final 50 yards. Wilson also claimed third in the 50-yard free, posting a time of 24.58 seconds. Wilson also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing at 1:00.09. Wilson shaved 4.36 seconds of his previous effort.

Tess Perdue led the Greensboro women with a fourth-place in finish in the women's 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:20.65. Her effort in the event was seven seconds faster than her previous mark. Perdue also claimed fifth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 3:00.60.

Both Pride squads return to action next Saturday, traveling to Ferrum for a noon Old Dominion Athletic Conference meet.
