GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's tennis team coasted to a 7-2 victory over their cross-town rivals from Guilford College Monday.
Greensboro got on the board quickly with two wins in doubles action to take a 2-1 lead in to singles play.
Anna Rae Porcelli and
Matti Moore won their second consecutive match on the season at No.1 doubles while
Hayley Griffen and
Hunter Cashion also won by an 8-0 score at No. 3 doubles.
Following doubles action, Porcelli, Griffen,
Alexis Chase and Cashion won their respective singles matches by score of 6-0 and 6-0.
Moore also won her singles match in straight sets by scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
"It was a great win today as everyone gave their maximum effort," Head Coach
Gus Mota said. "It is always a good time when you can beat your rival.
"We are already looking forward to our next match."
The Pride women will return to action Feb. 24 when they travel to Averett University to open USA South Athletic Conference play.
